(Head office: Hakata-ku, Fukuoka; Representative Director: Shunsuke Managi; hereafter 'the company'), an ESG assessment company, has become the first Japanese company to obtain a Corporate Reporting Software licence under the IFRS Foundation's international sustainability disclosure standard, the SASB standard. This ensures reliable ESG assessments in accordance with international standards.

Background and objectives of the SASB Standards Licence.

There is a growing trend to promote the disclosure of corporate sustainability information. In Japan, the disclosure of sustainability information in securities reports and other documents will become mandatory from January 2023. Against this backdrop, issues have emerged regarding the reliability of ESG assessments. ESG assessments in line with international standards are important for accurately judging a company's activities.

The SASB standards were established by the US Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) to standardise the disclosure of non-financial information, including ESG, by companies.
In 2021, the SASB standard will be integrated into the IFRS Foundation's International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB: International Sustainability Standards Board), which is attracting attention as a more comprehensive and higher quality global standard. It is currently adopted by more than 1,800 companies worldwide as a global standard for sustainability disclosure, and is also used by Japanese companies (*1) and supported by investors (*2) with large investments.

Licensing the SASB standards gives you the right to incorporate the SASB standards into your own systems, products or services. This allows you to develop processes and products that focus on the ESG information that is most important to investors and companies, and increases transparency in ESG assessments.

As a start-up from Kyushu University, we provide reliable ESG assessments based on many years of ESG research. With this licence, we will be able to provide more comprehensive sustainability assessments incorporating SASB and IFRS standards.

What is aiESG (aiESG), a product-level ESG analysis service?

aiESG is the world's first service that enables comprehensive ESG analysis at product and service level. AI analysis using our ESG supply chain big data enables detailed calculations of over 3,200 ESG indicators, as well as comparisons with industry averages and conventional products. In particular, the CO2It is the world's first solution in that it can quantitatively assess not only environmental aspects such as human rights, biodiversity and labour environment, but also social and governance aspects, including human rights, biodiversity and labour environment, which have become increasingly important in recent years.

Furthermore, analysis by aiESG enables geographical estimation, which is difficult with conventional Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and enables visualisation of environmental, social and corporate governance hotspots, not only for direct suppliers, but also for secondary and upstream suppliers.

In addition, as the only data required from the customer is product cost composition data or physical quantity data, ESG supply chain disclosures, which previously required huge amounts of man-hours, are facilitated.
