aiESG analyses the environmental impact of the value chain in NEC Corporation's TNFD report.

Press Release

(Head office: Hakata-ku, Fukuoka; Representative Director: Shunsuke Managi; hereafter 'aiESG'), a start-up company from Kyushu University that conducts quantitative ESG assessments, has completed a project to analyse the environmental impact of value chains in cooperation with NEC Corporation's TNFD (Nature-related Financial Disclosure Task Force) report and completed a project to analyse the environmental impact of the value chain.

The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) is a framework for disclosing the mutual impacts, risks and opportunities of companies and natural capital and biodiversity. It is expected that companies will receive appropriate recognition from investors and society by disclosing information in accordance with this framework.

The TNFD covers nature-related information disclosure in the entire value chain (value chain network = flow of goods and work), but it has been very difficult to trace back the huge number of procurement partners upstream in the value chain and to understand their dependence on and influence relationships with natural capital.

aiESG has established a methodology that traces back multiple layers of a sector from downstream to upstream in value chain/supply chain analysis using AI and statistical data such as international input-output tables. In this case, aiESG has visualised the environmental impact upstream in the value chain from NEC's procurement data.

We will continue to use this initiative to help companies clarify the relationship between their business and value chains and the environment.

What is aiESG (aiESG), a product-level ESG analysis service?

aiESG is the world's first service that enables comprehensive ESG analysis at product and service level. AI analysis using our ESG supply chain big data enables detailed calculations of over 3,200 ESG indicators, as well as comparisons with industry averages and conventional products. In particular, the CO2It is the world's first solution in that it can quantitatively assess not only environmental aspects such as human rights, biodiversity and labour environment, but also social and governance aspects, including human rights, biodiversity and labour environment, which have become increasingly important in recent years.

Furthermore, analysis by aiESG enables geographical estimation, which is difficult with conventional Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and enables visualisation of environmental, social and corporate governance hotspots, not only for direct suppliers, but also for secondary and upstream suppliers.

In addition, as the only data required from the customer is product cost composition data or physical quantity data, ESG supply chain disclosures, which previously required huge amounts of man-hours, are facilitated.
