(Head Office: Hakata-ku, Fukuoka; Representative Director: Shunsuke Managi; hereafter "aiESG"), a Kyushu University-launched start-up company that conducts quantitative ESG assessments, has completed a value chain environmental impact analysis project in cooperation with NEC Corporation's (Location: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Takayuki Morita; hereafter "NEC") TNFD (Nature-related Financial Disclosure (NEC) (Location: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Takayuki Morita; hereinafter "NEC") to complete a project to analyze the environmental impact of value chains.
The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) is a framework for disclosing the mutual impacts, risks, and opportunities between companies and natural capital and biodiversity. The Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures is a framework for disclosing the mutual impacts, risks, and opportunities of companies with respect to natural capital and biodiversity.
The TNFD covers nature-related information disclosure in the entire value chain (value chain network = flow of goods and work), but it has been very difficult to trace back the huge number of suppliers upstream in the value chain and understand their dependence on and influence relationships with natural capital.
aiESG has established a methodology that traces back multiple layers of a sector from downstream to upstream in value chain/supply chain analysis using AI and statistical data such as the International Input-Output table. In this case, aiESG has visualized the environmental impacts upstream in the value chain from NEC's procurement data.
We will continue to support companies in elucidating the relationship between their business and value chains and the environment by leveraging this initiative.
What is aiESG, a product-level ESG analysis service?
aiESG is the world's first service that enables comprehensive ESG analysis at the product and service level. Using AI analysis based on our ESG supply chain big data, aiESG can provide detailed calculations for more than 3,200 ESG indicators and compare them to industry averages and conventional products. In particular, it is possible to compare the CO2This is the world's first solution that enables quantitative evaluation of not only environmental aspects such as human rights, biodiversity, and labor environment, but also social and governance aspects, including human rights, biodiversity, and labor environment, which have become increasingly important in recent years.
Furthermore, analysis by aiESG enables geographical estimation, which is difficult with conventional Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and visualization of environmental, social, and corporate governance hot spots, tracing back not only to direct suppliers, but also to secondary and upstream business partners.
In addition, since the only data required from the customer is product cost structure data or physical quantity data, ESG supply chain disclosures, which previously required enormous man-hours, are facilitated.
