(Head office: Hakata-ku, Fukuoka; Representative Director: Shunsuke Managi; hereinafter "aiESG"), an ESG assessment company, has become the first Japanese company to obtain a Corporate Reporting Software license under the IFRS Foundation's international sustainability disclosure standard, the SASB standard. This ensures reliable ESG assessments in accordance with international standards.
Background and Purpose of SASB Standards Licensing
There is a growing movement to promote the disclosure of corporate sustainability information. In Japan, the disclosure of sustainability information in securities reports and other documents will become mandatory from January 2023. Under such circumstances, issues have surfaced regarding the reliability of ESG assessments. ESG assessments in line with international standards are important for accurately judging corporate activities.
The SASB standards were established by the U.S. Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) to standardize the disclosure of non-financial information, including ESG information, by companies.
In 2021, the SASB standards will be integrated into the IFRS Foundation's International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB: International Sustainability Standards Board), which is attracting attention as a more comprehensive and higher quality global standard. Currently, more than 1,800 companies around the world have adopted it as a global standard for sustainability disclosure, and it is also used by Japanese companies(*1) and supported by investors(*2) with large investments.
By licensing the SASB standards, you gain the right to incorporate the SASB standards into your own systems, products, or services. This allows you to develop processes and products that focus on the ESG information that investors and companies care about most, and increases the transparency of your ESG assessments.
As a start-up company from Kyushu University, we have been providing reliable ESG assessments based on our many years of ESG research. With this license, we will provide more comprehensive sustainability assessments that incorporate SASB and IFRS standards.
